Robert was a pall-bearer at his sister’s funeral, Teresa Mary Kane, in 1946 (reference). He was a part of the Bunbury Volunteer Fire Brigade Team who competed in Ballarat in the Victorian volunteer fire brigade demonstration in 1948 (reference). In the same year, he was charged in the Bunbury Police Court for failing to keep left on the road while riding his bicycle in Victoria Street (reference).
In 1950 Robert married Gladys Stewart in Fremantle (reference). Gladys was also involved in the Bunbury community, donating a doll and cradle of Bunbury’s C.W.A. Bazaar in 1954 (reference).
The last mention of 1 Cornwall Street was in March 1949 when a notice was placed in the South Western Times advertising a lady’s bike in good condition for sale (reference).
