He employed in Fremantle at Mason's Station ten ticket of leave men between 1864 and 1869, three of which were sawyers. He was later listed as a farmer in 1877 and a grazier/ dairyman between 1874 and 1889. In Bunbury and Australind, he employed four ticket of leave men between 1868 and 1877, one of which was a sawyer and another a baker. In Kojonup, he employed a ticket of leave sawyer in 1872. In Busselton he employed a ticket of leave labourer in 1865. In Augusta, he was listed as a sawyer and millhand in 1889 as well as a hostler between 1888-1889.
