GALE, Richard

Richard was born in Dorset, England, and died in Busselton. He was the son of John. Richard arrived in Western Australia in 1856 aboard the Shanghai. Richard got married in 1875 in Bunbury to Hannah Rebecca Margaret Spencer (26/11/1857-1940). She is the daughter of William and Hannah. For four years, Richard worked for W.L.Brockman at Gingin as a farm and dairy manager. Then went to Busselton as manager, lessee, then he was a purchaser of Molloy's property "Fairlawn". Richard was appointed Resident Manager in 1875 and Justice of the Peace. He was a Foundation member and President of the Southern Districts Agricultural Society. MLC for Vasse district during (10/1874-3/1878). He visited London and returned in 12/1887 aboard the Elderslie. Richard employed thirteen ticket of leave men in partnership with R.J. Brockman and three on his own account at "Fairlawn".

In
