Charles arrived on 02/06/1891 on the Orizaba. On 28/12/1893 Charles married Edith Properjohn (07/05/1875-09/05/1963). Edith was the daughter of Charles Daniel and Margaret. Charles and Edith had one child, Kathleen. He was a painter and decorator. He was contracted to work on the flour mill at York. In 1892, Charles went into partnership with James Craig at Bunbury in a premises rented from George William Floyd. He bought six lots of land in Bunbury. The death of Craig that year brought financial difficulties. He visited England with his bride, where his father's death caused him to remain there to carry on the family business.
