He may have been an expiree, meaning he completed his sentence as a convict. Neil arrived on 01/06/1858 on the Lord Raglan. At Bunbury in 1864, he nominated his wife Mary (1828-) and four children as assisted migrants. Mary arrived on 20/8/1866 on the Palestine with Michael (1856-). He employed a ticket of leave man in 1872. He was a store assistant in Geraldton in 1884. He is listed as a labourer in Northampton from 1880 to 1889.
