SCOTT, John

(18/10/1820-11/02/1880).

John was born in Scotland as the son of John and Ellen. John arrived on 05/03/1831 on the ship Eliza with his parents. On 20/11/1850, John married Catherine Roberts (24/10/1831-18/01/1923). Catherine was born in Cornwall and died in Bunbury. She arrived in 1842 on the ship Diadem with her parents, William and Isabella. John and Catherine's children were John Robert (1851-1929), George Fredericton (1854-), William (1856-), Isabella Marion (1858-1948), Ellen (1860-1914), Albert Arthur (1865-1914), Catherine Amelia (1867-1964), Selina (1869-1969), Janet Louisa (1872-1964) and Joseph Edward (1876-). They Lived in Capel in 1884, and he was a Bunbury farmer in 1877 at "Minninup". He was a postmaster. In 1850, he leased John Hutt's Lot 47 for 33 years. He also owned land at Donnelly Bridge and held a 20,000 acres leasehold. He employed twenty-seven ticket of leave men on occasions between 1862-1879, including two teachers in 1874, 6 bootmakers and a cook at Stratham Picton Wedderburn and "Minninup".
