He was the son of John and Ann. He married on 10/10/1892 in Bunbury to Isabella Caroline Clifton (27/02/1862-05/09/1908). Isabella was born in Bunbury as the daughter of Robert Williams and Christina. John and Isabella's children were Christina Ann Isabella (1893-1895), John Clifton Pierce (1895-), Robert-Eric Pierce (1896-1954). Gerald Eardly Pierce (1897-), Owen Ronald Pierce (1899-), Noel Churchill Pierce (1900-1955) and Richard Kent Pierce (1903-1910). John worked in the North West for some years, then the George River and Yule River from 1880-1885. He had stock at Mandurah in 1881 and 1884. He was a farmer at "Condarina", Benger. Had a Devon Cattle Stud and Shropshire sheep, exhibited in Royal Agricultural Shows. He grew the 1st crop of potatoes in Benger Swamp, which he drained for the purpose. He visited the Eastern colonies in 1883 and returned on 28/02/1884 on the Franklin.
