He was an ex-convict. He arrived in Australia on 10/07/1858 on the Adelaide. He married Eliza Keys (1838-) on 30/01/1860 in Bunbury. She arrived in Australia on 20/10/1859 on the West Australian. Micheal and Eliza's children were Margaret Mary Eliza (1860-), Maria Theresa (1862-), baptised in 1869 and James, baptised in 1864. He lived in Bunbury, where he was a baker in the 1860s-70s. He employed eighty two ticket of leave men on occasions in 1863-1874, including 17 cooks, six sawyers, five shoemakers, a gardener, a tinsmith and a tailor. He was Illiterate and Roman Catholic.
