GARDINER. Alfred

(06/02/1827-23/06/1906)

He is the son of Reuben and Ann. He arrived in Western Australia on 06/12/1842 aboard the Trusty with his parents. Alfred got married on 01/05/1856 in Bunbury to Susannah Higgins (12/10/1837-18/04/1895). Susannah was the daughter of William and Sarah. Their children were Sarah Ann (1857-), John (1858-1944), Henry William (1860-), Ann (1863), Rebecca (1865-), Alfred Charles (1868-1917), Charles (1870-), Susanna Maria (1873-) and Fanny (1875-). Alfred was a farmer in Bunbury by profession and owned the following land; 40 acres at Wellington (1868), Brunswick (1870), the land known as "Templemore", and Leasehold on Ferguson River. Alfred employed two ticket of leave men (1866 and 1869).

GALLEY, John

(1839-)

He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia on 21/10/1858 aboard the Edwin Fox. John was a Shoemaker from 1875-1888 at Blackwood and Bunbury, where he had a vineyard in the (1870)s. He was listed as a winemaker at Bridgetown. John employed eleven ticket of leave men between 1864-1877, including a shoemaker in 1873 and a carpenter in 1877.

GALE, Walter Augustus

Walter was born in Geraldton. He is the son of William and Mary Ann. He got married on 18/11/1896 to Georgiana Kennedy Richardson (14/02/1867-01/1946) in Bunbury. Georgiana died in New South Wales. She was the daughter of William and Amelia. Their children were Doreen, Dermott, Frederick and Mervyn. Walter was the Assistant Reg. at the Colonial Secretary's Office (Government Gazette) from 1886-1890. He later travelled to Melbourne, where he became a Clerk to the Court of Federal Parliament. He later visited England and returned on (22/01/1885 ) aboard the Abington.

GALE, Richard

(1834-03/01/1931)

Richard was born in Dorset, England, and died in Busselton. He was the son of John. Richard arrived in Western Australia in 1856 aboard the Shanghai. Richard got married in 1875 in Bunbury to Hannah Rebecca Margaret Spencer (26/11/1857-1940). She is the daughter of William and Hannah. For four years, Richard worked for W.L.Brockman at Gingin as a farm and dairy manager. Then went to Busselton as manager, lessee, then he was a purchaser of Molloy's property "Fairlawn". Richard was appointed Resident Manager in 1875 and Justice of the Peace. He was a Foundation member and President of the Southern Districts Agricultural Society. MLC for Vasse district during (10/1874-3/1878). He visited London and returned in 12/1887 aboard the Elderslie. Richard employed thirteen ticket of leave men in partnership with R.J. Brockman and three on his own account at "Fairlawn".
