James may have been an expiree. He arrived possibly on 09/06/1862 on the Norwood. He married on 22/05/1865 at Bunbury to Jane Smythe. Their children were Caroline (1868-1904), who was baptised in 1870, Kary Agnes (1875-), who was baptised as a Roman Catholic in 1887 and Mary (1877-). In Preston "Yokanup", James was employed by the W.A. Timber Company as a boatman (1880). His widow applied for outdoor relief in 1887, and their two daughters were placed in a Roman Catholic Orphanage. He was a member of the Church of England.
