HOGAN, John

(1852-03/10/1900)

John was born in England and died in Northam. He was the son of William, a police detective. John arrived with Isabella Blythe on 28/01/1854 with his parents. He went with his parents to the Eastern colonies on the Bradley on 03/07/1857, returning in 1858. He married in 1877 at Bunbury to Martha Jane Wisbey (04/05/1859-14/11/1940). Martha was born at Northam, as the daughter of Charles and Ellen. Their children were Ernest James (1878-), who was born in Perth, John Charles (1880-) who was born in York, Frederick W (1882-), William Louis Vincent Brady (1885-1912), Lucy May F (1886-), Eric H. W (1888-), Eva E (1890), Mabel Elizabeth (1892-1964) who was born at Busselton and died at Victoria, and Leslie G (1897-). He joined the Western Australia Police Force on 01/07/1874. He was stationed at Fremantle, Pinjarra, York and Fremantle. Rising to Acting Inspector by the time of his death, having served at Northam in the 1880s, Busselton in 1889 and Perth in 1892. He was a member of the Church of England.

In
