He was born in Dardanup and died in Bunbury (1858-07/03/1897), the son of James and Elizabeth (maiden name Carbberry). He was married on 01/12/1887 in Beverley West to Harriette Elizabeth Mary Clark (17/08/1868-). Elizabeth was born in South Australia, as the daughter of Alfred Steven (a farmer and grazier) and Caroline (maiden name L.A.W.). She arrived from South Australia in 1869 with her parents. She remarried on 30/05/1898 in Bunbury to Henry Shivers. Their children were Gertrude E. (1888-), Caroline M. (1889/90-), Thomas Cyril (1891/92-), Amy C.(1894/95-) and Olive D. (1895/96-). Listed in Dardanup as a farmer. In 1877 signed a petition regarding restrictions on expirees. Listed in Beverley as a labourer, "Gillimanning" 1887. His wife's religion was the Church of England, and he converted to the Roman Catholic church.
