MAGOWAN (MCGOWAN), Phillip John

(-22/07/1875).

Phillip arrived on 13/01/1853 on the Travancore (a family tradition - not on passenger list). Phillip married on 03/04/1854 in Bunbury to Margaret Marta Rowland (11/08/1833-30/06/1871). She died when an aboriginal person speared her. She also arrived on 13/01/1853 on the Travancore. Their children were Hannah (1855-), Mary (1856-), Charles Houlder (1858-1928), Andrew (1860-1861), Josiah (1862-1865), Frank Roland (1864-), WaIter Philip (1867-) and Clement (William) (1869-). Listed in Bunbury and Boyup as a small farmer, sandalwood and mail contractor. In charge of Robert Rose's outstation at the head of Preston River. He died while sandalwooding with his son. His religion was the Church of England.
