MCCABE, Reverend Patrick

(1829- 21/10/1899).

Patrick was born in Ireland and died in Minnesota, USA. He arrived on 08/08/1859 on the Travancore, in cabin class. He was ordained in 03/1859 as a Roman Catholic Chaplain. He served at Perth in 1859, then transferred to Champion Bay in 1860, then Bunbury between 1865-1869 and Fremantle in 1871. In 1874, Patrick became the Principal of the Roman Cathelic Boys' Orphanage in Subiaco. He departed to South Australia on 05/1875, then left for the USA in 1882. While at Bunbury, he was involved in the escape of John Boyle O'Reilly, the Fenian. He also organised the building of the Roman Catholic Church in Bunbury.
