He was a lieutenant who first visited the H.M.S. Clio. Henry married Julia Nina Sofala. Their children were Dudley Bligh Douglas (1874-) born in Perth Church of England, Charles Francis (1875/6-1876) born in Bunbury and another son (1879-) born in Victoria Barracks Sydney. Henry retired from the Royal Navy as a Captain in Perth in 1875. He was listed as a farmer in Bunbury, Blackwood River. He moved to New South Wales before 1879. He became an officer in the Defence Corps and was in command of principal Private Jackson batteries. He moved to Soudan in Australia's 1st overseas contingent. His religion was the Church of England.
