He was born in the United Kingdom. Daniel was an expiree. He arrived 04/08/1852 on the convict transport ship William Jardine and then applied for his wife and children to follow during 1853. He first married in the United Kingdom to Eliza Cross, then later remarried on 01/02/1904 to Catherine Young of Perth. His children were Ann Eliza (1857-), Henry (1859-), Frederick (1861-1949), Rosina (1862-), Arthur (1864-1938). Albert (baptised 1869, died 1868). They had a child die in 1865 and 1867. He was a Bunbury farmer from 1865 onwards, a carter and a road contractor. He was a farmer in Dardanup in 1877. He employed twenty-eight ticket of leave men between 1866 and 1878 including two woodcutters, a splitter and a brickmaker in 1878. He left Western Australia on 22/04/1900 and returned on 18/10/1900.
