Samuel arrived on 10/04/1852 on the Diadem at Australind, with his wife Sarah (1819-) and Children Joseph (1841-1852), died during the voyage, Charles (1843), Sarah E. (1844-), Samuel August (1849-) and Anna Mary Ann (1852-1919). He worked as a shepherd in the Bunbury district before moving to Fremantle in February 1848 on the ship Typo and worked for E.Beere at Bolgart. Later moved to Canning district where he employed seven ticket of leave men on occasions 1852-1868, four of them woodcutters listed as labourers in 1864.
