SINCLAIR, John

(1833-06/09/1916).

John was born on Shetland Island and died in Bunbury. John was the son of George and Margaret. He arrived on 19/01/1860 on the ship Dolphin. John married Julia Ringwood (1845-03/05/1909). Julia was born in Dublin and died in Bunbury. John and Julia's children were Joseph Harrington, James Robert, Alathea, Albert Ernest, William, Mary Ann (1862-1925), Daniel Laurence, George Jeffery, Margaret, John Thomas, Agnes Maud (1864-1866), Julia Catherine, Charles Augustus, Egbert Bertram and Frederick Ringwood. John worked as a water policeman in the 1860s at Fremantle for ten years, then moved to Busselton (bought a Town lot in 1868) as a shipwright. Then to Bunbury, where he was a lighthouse keeper and pier master in charge of all shipping until the appointment of the Harbour Master, Captain Abrahamson. In 1863 he nominated Henry Mainland (1842-) of Shetland Island.
