William was born in Scotland and died in Perth. William was a member of the 11th Battalion of the Royal Artillery. He arrived as an Enrolled Pensioner Guard on the convict transport ship Ramilles on 07/08/1954 with his wife and children. He married Rachel King (24/05/1819-04/03/1887) on 01/04/1840 in St Johns, Newfoundland. She was born at St. Johns and died 04/03/1887 at Perth. Their children were Alexander James, Mary, Kate, Rachel (1855-) and Isabel. William was formerly a sergeant of the Royal Artillery. At Fremantle he was a gardener between 1876 and 1878. On 18/10/1879 he was granted Wellington Location 402 at Bunbury.
