He was also the owner of "Moorland Farm", which was given to two of his sons when he and his wife retired to Bunbury, where they lived with their daughter.

Joseph and Harriet's children were Joseph (who died in World War 1), Faith, Eve, Thomas Walter (1904-1975), Mary, Arthur, William, Madeline, Heien, Anne, Joseph. Joseph first arrived to work on the Albany-Perth railway before he went prospecting. He then visited England. After visiting England, he worked as a dairy farmer for "Spring Creek Farm" at Yarloop and then carted timber from Williams Mill and other mills to the railway until they closed. His wife taught sewing at Cookernup School.
