Edward was the son of Reverend James Mark and Alison née Hume. He arrived on 02/09/1862 on the West Australian with his parents. He married Mary Eliza Palmer (1861-) on 24/09/1879. Mary was born in Albany. He was the second doctor of Thomas Matthew and Elizabeth née Thomas. Their children were born in 1885 (KGS). He was the post and telegraph department messenger in 1873 at Toodyay and 1874 at Bunbury. In 1875 he was the telegraph operator in Albany. He was a chief operator (1887 AIm). He went to the Eastern colonies on his honeymoon and returned 01/01/1880 on the Tanjore. He went to the Eastern colonies about the time of his father's death and returned on the 25/11/1886 on the Tasmania. He was a member of the Albany Town Council in 1886.
