He was born in Bunbury, as the son of John and Mary (maiden name Love). They arrived on 10/04/1842 on Board the Diadem. Alfred was married on 10/06/1853 at father's house in Picton to Louisa Jane Flaherty (1835-12/06/1929) the daughter of Edward and Sarah. Their children were Caroline (1854-1896), Edmund (1856-), Lewis (1858-), Matilda (1860-1884) died in Pitcon, Geoffrey (1869-1938), WaIter and Godfrey. Manager of Allnutt's property "Ditchingham" in 1861. Listed as a farmer at Bunbury and was a Police Constable by 1869 stationed at Lakes, York Road. He employed three ticket of leave men on occasions between 1872-1873 at Bunbury.
