Edmund was born in Bunbury, as the son of Alfred and Louisa (maiden name Flaherty). He was married on 27/10/1880 at Toodyay Church of England to Eleanor Elizabeth Meredith (09/03/1861-). Eleanor was the daughter of George and Ann (maiden name Hannett). Their children were Borace George (1881-1970), Aubrey Edmund (1883-), Henry Mervyn (1884-1975), Clarence Rupert (1886-), Mabel Louisa (1888-). Ethel May (1889-1895), Felix Leonard (1891-1918) and Minna Eleanor (1893-1914). Listed as a farmer at Brunswick in 1885. Listed in Balingup as in the horse trade and sandalwood, the proprietor of "Balingup lnn" or "Nelson Arms Hotel". He bred racehorses, one of which "Patron", was a winner of many races at country meetings. He Bought "Glenmore '' farm and the Post office between 1886-1889 at Balingup was run by his wife until 1916. He was education in Government Schools at Perth and Bunbury.
