He was born in England and died in Bunbury. He was the son of John and Mary. James arrived on 10/04/1842 on Board the Diadem with parents. He married in Australind to Marle (Maria) Harris (1834-02/07/1909). Their child was Newton (1870-) born in Bunbury. He was listed as an auctioneer at Bunbury in 1861, as a bailiff in 1877, a District Police Constable and a Justice of Peace. He was granted leave of absence in 1866 and was the Mayor of Bunbury in 1898. He was the part-owner with M.C.Davies of "Star of the South" in 1877. He employed five ticket of leave men between 1864 and 1876, including two carpenters and a shoemaker.
