(22/05/1839). He was the son of (James) Abraham Matthews and Mary (maiden name Jones). Abraham married in Perth to Mary Esther Rose Trayrorne (1840-24/05/1886). Mary was the daughter of Richard. She arrived 24/10/1850 on Board the Hashemy (Enrolled Pensioner ). Their children were Hilda Matthew F. (1942-), Stephen James, Claude later, Abraham, Lewis Charles (1860-1930), Maude (1868-1945), Lily Cecilia (1873-) and Rose. Abraham joined the Police Force before 1860 and was stationed at Bunbury in 1864, then Bridgetown 1866, where he bought a town Lot in 1868 and was the first policeman there. He was appointed as Registrar of births, deaths and marriages in 1875. His wife was postmistress 1866 and schoolteacher 1870.
