Robert was born in Bunbury and died in Perth. He was born as the third son of Robert John and Mary Ann. In 1878, Robert married Elizabeth Cosgrove. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas of Sydney. Robert and Elizabeth's children were (Bessie) Tossie (1879-1919), Frederick Robert (1882-1937), Fanny (1884-1970s) and Guy Treverton (1886-1931). They arrived on 22/11/1878 on the ship Otway from the Eastern colonies. They made several voyages later to the Eastern colonies. He managed an Irwin sheep station for three years. He went northwest in 1868 to Nickol Bay to be a pearler. He had gold mine interests in "Weeriana" and was one to send stock to Western Kimberleys. Robert was a member of Kimberley Pastoral Co. Director of Lady Shenton and Fraser Mines. Robert was a member of the Federal Convention 1897. He was part of the Church of England.
