Robert was born in England and died in Perth. John was the second son of Robert and Elizabeth. Robert arrived on 18/11/1840 on the ship Shepherd with his mother and brothers. On 21/09/1844, Robert married Mary Ann Berkelman (1828-16/07/1889) in Bunbury. Robert and Mary's children were Treverton Charles (1845-1867), Richard Adolphus (1846-1919), Robert Frederick (1848-1909), (Horace), Horatio William (1852-1927), Edward (1854-1896), Penelope Panny (1856-1931), Arthur (1858-1894) and Charles Edwin (1861-1889). He worked in Perth and Bunbury in Civil Service as a clerk and tidewaiter from 1849-66. A resident magistrate in Camden Harbour in 1866 and then again in Roebourne. He was a Justice of Peace until 1881 when he transferred to Swan. He was commemorated in 1979 in a brass plaque in Perth pavement for the year 1866.
