NAYLOR, Joseph (1831-11/09/1917). Joseph was born in England and died in Bunbury. He was an ex-convict. His next of Kin was Elizabeth Bamford of Radcliffe Bridge. Lancashire. He arrived on 29/01/1862 on the convict transport Lincelles. He married Elizabeth Hall (1858-07/04/1937) on 08/01/1877 at Australind. Elizabeth was born at Bunbury and was the daughter of Richard Hall, a farmer. Their Children were Mary Jane (1878-), Richard (1880-), William John (baptised 1882 in Donnybrook), George Henry (1887-), Maria (1890-), Lucia Gladys (1898-) and two other daughters. At Bunbury, he was a storekeeper between 1887 and 1889. He employed two ticket of leave men in 1869. He was reported as leaving for the U.S.A. in 1875, which was incorrect. Joseph was a member of the Church of England, and his wife was Roman Catholic.


NEEDES, Benjamin Junior (22/08/1858-21/09/1914). He was the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Needes. On 26/07/1884, he married Charlotte Muir (04/04/1860-23/10/1927) at the Church of England, Busselton. Charlotte was the daughter of Thomas and Charlotte nee Herbert Muir. Their children were Thomas Muir (1885-), Charlotte Olive Mary (1890-1956), Hilda (1891-1966), Agnes Mary (1896-), John Perup (1897/1898-) and Jane (1900-). Unfortunately, one of their children died young at Manjimup. 


NEEDES, William (1850-). He was the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth. He arrived on 24/03/1854) onboard the Victory with his mother. At Bunbury he was a farmer in the 1870s. He later went to New Zealand, where he married.


NEWLAND, Charles Challecombe (or C.N.C.). He was the brother of Harry Osman Newland of the Singapore Police. Charles left Western Australia around 1871 and later returned. He had a son born in 1885 in Singapore. He was an Inspector in the Straits Settlement Police Force from 1878 to 1887. He resigned to apply for a post in Western Australia. He joined the West Australian Police Force in November 1893 as a Sub Inspector and served at Albany, Perth, Coolgardie, Kalgoorlie and Bunbury. He served in Africa in 1900 and Northam in 1901. He went to England for six months, arriving back in West Australia again on 11/09/1907. He was not re-appointed.


NEWMAN, Charles Henry Senior. Charles was the son of Frederick Newman, a millwright. He married Mary Hancock (15/10/1872-1950) on 27/11/1895 at St Matthews Guildford Church of England. Mary was born at Roebourne and died at Roleystone. She was the daughter of John Frederick and Mary née Strange Hancock. Their children were John Frederick (1899-) born in Bunbury and Charles Henry Junior (1912-), born at Worsley. In Fremantle, he was an engineer in 1895. He was also a prospector and a farmer at Jingalup.


NICHOL, William (1829-). William was born in the United Kingdom. He was an expiree, meaning he served his sentence as a convict. He arrived on the 29/01/1862 aboard the convict transport ship the Lincelles. He was a sawyer at Bunbury and employed three ticket of leave labourers in 1869, 1870 and 1871.


NICHOLSON, Archibald. He was an expiree. He arrived on the 29/01/1862 on the convict transport ship Lincelles. He employed a ticket of leave labourer at Bunbury in 1871. He sailed for South Australia on 21/01/1875. 


NIX, Frederick Albert (1853-08/10/1930). He was born in Devonshire, England and died at Bunbury. He arrived on 22/12/1877 (though not listed) on the Robert Morrison. He was married on  06/03/1875 in England to Catherine PriscilIa Gardner (12/10/1855-04/10/1938). Catherine was born in England and died in Bunbury. Their children were Grace Selina (1876-1952) born in England, Frederick Albert (1879-1962) born at Gingin and died at Boyup Brook, Henry Barzillia (1881-1941) born at Gingin and died at Boyup Brook, Ann Priscilla (1881-1972) born at Gingin, George Percival (1883-1926) born at Gingin, Catherine Maud (1884-1953), born at Gingin, Cecil Gardner (1888-1914) born at Gingin, Mabel Louisa (1889-1979) born at Gingin, John Bertram (1893-1962) born at Boyup, Gladys (1899-) born at Boyup. As a farmer in Essex, England, before he came to Australia, he brought a team of horses, fruit trees, vines and other stock with him. He applied for 300 acres at Gingin, where he leased part of "Cheriton". On 29/03/1892 he selected "Newbicup", part of Anthony Horden's grant at Boyup Brook. He was an orchardist,  vigneron and farmer and a member of the Upper Blackwood Road Board around 1896.


NORRIE, William Devonport. He was married on 06/12/1875 to Annie Putt. She was the daughter of John and Catherine née Gill Putt. At Bunbury he was a shoemaker from 1883 to 1889. He employed a ticket of leave bootmaker in 1872.  


NORRIS, William (1829-). He was an expiree. He arrived on the 15/02/1863 on the convict transport ship Merchantman. He employed a ticket of leave clerk at Fremantle in 1864 and a ticket of leave bootmaker at Bunbury in 1871. He left for South Australia on the 25/04/1880 on the Rob Roy. 


NORTH, Arthur (04/09/1864-). Arthur was born at Bunbury. He was the son of Daniel and Eliza North. He married Margaret Shananah, the daughter of Owen and Bridget nee Ryan Shanahan. Their child was Sylvia Grace (1894-). He did a five-year apprenticeship in blacksmithing and spent ten years in this trade at Northam, York and Coolgardie. He then returned to Bunbury and opened a land and estate agency. He was a Member of the Municipal Council, Secretary to the Friendly Society Association, Secretary of the South West Australian Rifle Union, and the Traders Association of Bunbury. 


NORTH, Daniel (1828-27/02/1917). He was born in the United Kingdom. Daniel was an expiree. He arrived 04/08/1852 on the convict transport ship William Jardine and then applied for his wife and children to follow during 1853. He first married in the United Kingdom to Eliza Cross, then later remarried on 01/02/1904 to Catherine Young of Perth. His children were Ann Eliza (1857-), Henry (1859-), Frederick (1861-1949), Rosina (1862-), Arthur (1864-1938). Albert (baptised 1869, died 1868). They had a child die in 1865 and 1867. He was a Bunbury farmer from 1865 onwards, a carter and a road contractor. He was a farmer in Dardanup in 1877. He employed twenty-eight ticket of leave men between 1866 and 1878 including two woodcutters, a splitter and a brickmaker in 1878. He left Western Australia on 22/04/1900 and returned on 18/10/1900.


NORTH, Frederick (05/01/1861-13/10/1949). Frederick was born and died at Bunbury. He was the son of Daniel and Eliza. He married Elizabeth Hayes (19/04/1860 -24/07/1947) in 1884 at Albany. She was the daughter of John and Mary née Dobbs Hayes. Their children were John Daniel (1888-), born in Albany, William (1893-), born in Albany, Mary Agnes (1885-) in Bunbury and Eva (1890-), born in Albany. He worked on timber cargo ships as a carting contractor at Albany for the railway works. He bought 30 acres of land from the West Australia Land Company at Torbar Inlet in 1889. He was a pioneer settler at Grassmere, Elleker (Albany), growing cabbages for timber workers and vegetables and potatoes for the goldfields market. The first consignments were sent while the railhead was at Southern Cross. He was a member of the Albany Road Board in 1902. He retired to Bunbury sometime in the 1920s. He became a Justice of the Peace in 1912.


NORTH, Henry (8/02/1859-). He was the son of Daniel and Eliza. He married Sarah Kelly on the 28/05/1890 in Bunbury.


NORTHERY, John James. He married Ellen Nolan on 5/02/1856 in Bunbury at the Church of England. 


NORWOOD, Aaron Charles (06/1860-11/1939). He was born in Walford, England. He was the son of John Norwood. He arrived 24/03/1887 on the Chollerton with his wife Selina née Robinet (1859-23/10/1929). She was born in England, died in New Norcia and was buried in Glentronie. Their children were James, Daisy, Alice Louisa (1886-) born in England, Jack who died in active service with the Australian Infantry Forces during World War I, George (1890-1922), Henry, Charles, David, Walter, Minnie and Selina (1900-1935). He was employed on the railway construction at Bunbury and Midland Railway. He lived at Mogumber and Gillingarra, then Midland Junction in 1903. He then moved to Waddington, New Norcia in 1906 and was a farmer. He was a Protestant.
