GALE, Richard (1834-03/01/1931). Richard was born in Dorset, England, and died in Busselton. He was the son of John. Richard arrived in Western Australia in 1856 aboard the Shanghai. Richard got married in 1875 in Bunbury to Hannah Rebecca Margaret Spencer (26/11/1857-1940). She is the daughter of William and Hannah. For four years, Richard worked for W.L.Brockman at Gingin as a farm and dairy manager. Then went to Busselton as manager, lessee, then he was a purchaser of Molloy's property "Fairlawn". Richard was appointed Resident Manager in 1875 and Justice of the Peace. He was a Foundation member and President of the Southern Districts Agricultural Society. MLC for Vasse district during (10/1874-3/1878). He visited London and returned in 12/1887 aboard the Elderslie. Richard employed thirteen ticket of leave men in partnership with R.J. Brockman and three on his own account at "Fairlawn". 


GALE, Walter Augustus (22/12/1864-27/07/1927). Walter was born in Geraldton. He is the son of William and Mary Ann. He got married on 18/11/1896 to Georgiana Kennedy Richardson (14/02/1867-01/1946) in Bunbury. Georgiana died in New South Wales. She was the daughter of William and Amelia. Their children were Doreen, Dermott, Frederick and Mervyn. Walter was the Assistant Reg. at the Colonial Secretary's Office (Government Gazette) from 1886-1890. He later travelled to Melbourne, where he became a Clerk to the Court of Federal Parliament. He later visited England and returned on (22/01/1885 ) aboard the Abington. 


GALLEY, John (1839-). He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia on 21/10/1858 aboard the Edwin Fox. John was a Shoemaker from 1875-1888 at Blackwood and Bunbury, where he had a vineyard in the (1870)s. He was listed as a winemaker at Bridgetown. John employed eleven ticket of leave men between 1864-1877, including a shoemaker in 1873 and a carpenter in 1877.


GARDINER. Alfred (06/02/1827-23/06/1906). He is the son of Reuben and Ann. He arrived in Western Australia on 06/12/1842 aboard the Trusty with his parents. Alfred got married on 01/05/1856 in Bunbury to Susannah Higgins (12/10/1837-18/04/1895). Susannah was the daughter of William and Sarah. Their children were Sarah Ann (1857-), John (1858-1944), Henry William (1860-), Ann (1863), Rebecca (1865-), Alfred Charles (1868-1917), Charles (1870-), Susanna Maria (1873-) and Fanny (1875-). Alfred was a farmer in Bunbury by profession and owned the following land; 40 acres at Wellington (1868), Brunswick (1870), the land known as "Templemore", and Leasehold on Ferguson River. Alfred employed two ticket of leave men (1866 and 1869). 


GARDINER, Edward (07/10/1832 - 1917). He is the son of Jesse and Jane. Edward arrived in Western Australia on (06/12/1842) aboard Trusty with his parents. He got married on (23/04/1855) in Bunbury to Margaret Monaghue (1831-). Margaret was born in Ireland. She arrived In Western Australia on 13/06/1853 aboard the Sabrina. Their children were Jane, Elizabeth, William, Bethiah, Frances (-1956), John, Ellen, Jesse, who died of measles at 19 years old, Sophia, Sarah and Henry. He was a farmer in Bunbury. He owned 12 acres in 1856, another 16 acres in 1867 and had a tillage lease. His wife was listed at Bunbury as a Roman Catholic in 1854 by Salvedo. 


GARDINER, Ephriam (10/05/1854-21/05/1944). He was born in Western Australia and died in Perth. He is the son of Jesse and Jane. He got married on 01/05/1876 in Picton to Christina Fowler (18/7/1851-18/12/1934/5). Christina died in Dardanup. She is the daughter of John and Elizabeth. Their children were Louisa Haude (1878-1965), Habel Elizabeth (1880-1964), Julius Maitland (1882-1959), Cecil (died in infancy), Edith Hinna (1888-), Godfrey Kervyn (1890) and Guy Ronald (1893-). Ephriam was a surveyor in the southwest before 1876 and after that in the Northwest on the telegraph line Murchison to Roebourne. After this, he was a farmer at "Greenwood" in Ferguson. He was a Justice of Peace. He was the 1st Chairman of Dardanup Road Board from 1895-1904, a Member from 1908 to 1911 and from 1916 to 1921. He was educated in Bunbury.


GARDINER, James. He arrived in Western Australia on 16/08/1885 aboard the South Australian from South Australia as a Civil servant. He was also an engineer in 1885. He lived in the Southern districts of Bunbury from 1887-1889. 


GARDINER, John (06/12/1858-06/03/1944). He was born in Bunbury. He is the son of Alfred and Susanna (nee Higgins). He got married on 24/12/1890 (Bunbury Church of England) to Viola Blanche Gibbs. Viola was born on 20/11/1873 (Collie). She is the daughter of John Samuel and Jane Elizabeth (nee Gardiner). Their children are; Phyllis Blanche (1891-), Reuben Avelyn Onslow (1893-), Hubert Cyril (1899-1960) and Ronald (1911-). John was a farmer of "Elvira Creek ". Roelands took over the property after his father's death in 1905. John employed two ticket of leave men during 1877 and 1878. He was a member of the Wellington Agricultural Society. He was also on the board of education for Vasse in 1879. He was also a Publican at Busselton 1879-1888. He was a member of the Church of England.


GARDINER, William. He was the son of Edward and Margaret. He married Elizabeth Trigwell (1850-1872). He remarried on 13/07/1890 in Bunbury to Harriet Agnes Trigwell (1859-). Agnes was born at Preston. William's wives were sisters and the daughters of Henry and Agnes Ann. William's children were Alfred Walter (1892-) and Ella Muriel Sophia (1902-). He was a Water policeman in Busselton from 1873-1874, then a Boatman 1875-1877. He was a member of the Church of England. 


GARRETT, James. He employed two ticket of leave men in Perth from 1864-1867 and possibly one ticket of leave man at Bunbury 1871. 


GARRlTTY, James (1842-). He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia in 12/1862 aboard the Palmerston. He employed a ticket of leave man at the Hines Champion Bay 1868. When living in Bunbury, he was a tinsmith from 1876-1877. He departed for South Australia on 28/01/1877.


GARVEY, Patrick. He was the son of William and Mary. He was a farmer in Bunbury. He applied for land on Preston River in 1859. He ended up with a leasehold of 80 acres in 1864 and finally fully purchased in 1868 at Quindalup. Later in life, he was a farmer in Dardanup around 1877. He employed five ticket of leave men from 1868-1875. 


GAYNE/GAINES, George. He employed a ticket of leave labourer in 1881 at Bunbury.


GEE, A. Perth, scavenger (1880). Bunbury, builder and contractor (1884-6).


GEE, Arthur Edward (23/09/1863-). Arthur was born in Greenough as the son of WaIter and Mary. He got married in 1879 in Bunbury to Mary Annie Lee. She is the daughter of Patrick (Pensioner Guard) and Elizabeth. Arthur remarried Alice. Arthur and Mary's children were Arthur Waiter Patrick (1889-1951), who was born in Fremantle, Edward (1894-), Robert Purtyl and Hilda (Dolly) Mary (1896-). Arthur and Alice's children were Frances Mary and Stepson William. Arthur was a Police Officer from 04/02/1884-12/05/1891. He has been to many places such as Guildford, Fremantle. etc. He captured Thomas Hughes in 1887. His religion was Roman Catholic. 


GEE, Charles Walter (23/02/1857-08/1914). Charles was born in Dandaragan and died in Guildford. He is the son of Walter Frederick and Mary. He got married on 29/10/1879 in Bunbury to Elizabeth Jane Lee (27/12/1861-). Elizabeth was born in Bunbury as the daughter of Patrick (Pensioner Guard) and Elizabeth. Their children were WaIter Henry (1880-1963), Hannah Elizabeth (1882-1968), Ada (1883-1926), Mary Ann Agnes (1885, died in infancy), Charles Patrick (1887-) who was born in Perth, Hugh (1889-), Lucinda Mabel (1890, died in infancy), Ethel Hay (1892-1966), Rilda Habel (1896-) (Guildford Roman Catholic). Charles was a Police Sergeant and later a Detective. He was stationed at Bunbury, Perth, Victoria Plains, New Norcia, Northam. He owned property, it was in Guildford, Town Lot 98 Lot 4 and a vineyard Town Lot.  His religion was Roman Catholic. 


GERRING, William Grey (1852-). William was the son of William (of Berkshire). William got married on 21/04/1880 in Fremantle to Maria Redmond. Maria was the daughter of John (England), who arrived in Western Australia aboard the Lady Louisa 19/12/1875 from London. Maria arrived in Western Australia on 30/04/1877 aboard the Lady Louisa from London. He applied for an immigrant grant of 50 acres at Wellington district in 1885. William joined the Police Force on arrival in York, 1876, Perth. William went to Fremantle and became a police constable in 1880. William later travelled to Geraldton in 1885, where he became a Police corporal. Other professions he has done include; Bunbury Gaoler (1886 Govt. Gazette). He went back to York in 1886 and finally to Northampton in 1893. William was dismissed from duty in 1888 (staff economies). He was a member of the Church of England.


GIBBONS, Peter (1814-1881). Peter was born in Ireland and died in Ireland. Peter was the son of Richard and Elizabeth. He arrived in Western Australia on 14/12/1852 aboard the Dido with his wife and children. Peter got married in Ireland to Margaret Murphy (1825-06/03/1870). Margaret was the daughter of Michael and Ann. Their children were Richard (1850-1892), who was born in Ireland, Annie Mary (1853-), who was born in Perth, Percy James, Elizabeth Agnes (1860-), who was born in Fremantle and Peter Louis (1862-1943) who was born in Fremantle. Peter became a Police Constable in Ireland, appointed to the Commissariat in 1848. When he moved to Fremantle, he became a Clerk in the Commissariat. And then after 2 years in Perth transferred to Bunbury. He later bought a farm at Capel. He departed on 24/01/1877 aboard the Helena Mena. His religion was Roman Catholic.


GIBBONS, Richard (1850-25/11/1892). Richard was born in Ireland and died in Bunbury. He was the son of Peter and Margaret. He married on 05/08/1885 in Fremantle to Annie Jackson. Annie was the daughter of William Dockray and Catherine. She arrived in Western Australia on 14/12/1852 aboard the Dido with her parents. Richard employed four ticket of leave men during 1869-1874 at Ludlow-Minninup. He later travelled to Fremantle, where he became an accountant (1880- 9). He also became a Government Resident, Wickham 1892. Resident magistrate. Bridgetown and mining registrar, Greenbushes tin fields. Educated in Fremantle. His religion was Roman Catholic.


GIBBS, Emma (1846). She is the daughter of James and Charlotte. Emma got married in 1866 in Bunbury to Owen Gardiner.


GIBBS, Ernest Alfred (1868-27/08/1918). Ernest was born in Australind and died in Northam. He was the son of James Dagley and Alice Maria. He married in 1900 in Bunbury to Alice May Campbell. Their children were Alice (1900-), Wallace (1903-), Agnes (1906-) and Edith Lillian (1909-).


GIBBS, George Gordon. George married on 31/12/1885 in Bunbury to Ellen E. Holden. Ellen was the daughter of J. A. (Adelaide). In Brunswick (Collie), George was a farmer in 1885.

GIBBS, Harold William (03/01/1859-). He was born in Bunbury as the son of James and Charlotte. He married in 1877 in Bunbury to Amelia Wisbey (-08/12/1890). Amelia was the daughter of Charles and Ellen. Harold remarried on 10/04/1895 to Susanna Maria Gardiner (1873-). Susanna was the daughter of Alfred. Harold's children were Harold Nagley (1818-). Dorothy, Lionel, Cora (1898-) and Lesand Selma (1909-) born in Bunbury. Harold lived in Bunbury, where he was a carpenter and undertaker from 1885/1889.


GIBBS, James Dagley (1822-1905). James died in Bunbury. He was the son of Robert and Jane of Aylesbury (storekeeper, pawnbroker). James arrived in Western Australia on 23/05/1844 aboard the Trusty. He married on 07/01/1845 in Picton to Charlotte Narroway (1823-28/03/1862). James remarried on 30/04/1863 to Alice Mada Parkes (1843-1894). She arrived 26/12/1860 aboard the Escort as a servant to Mr Clifton. James and Charlotte's children were Emma (1846-), Panny (1847-1848), Robert (1848), Jane (1850), John (1856). Herald William (1859) Samuel. James and Alice's children were Charlotte (1864-), Amelia (1867-), Ernest Alf-red (1868-1918) (Northam). Wallace (1869), Lilian (1872), Ethelbert (1873), Athelstan (1877), James (1880). He first lived at Picton, then Australind in the 1840s and Perth in the 1850s. When James moved to Bunbury, he became a Wheelwright and carpenter in the 1860s and shipwright. He built the Star of South in 1875. He employed two ticket of leave men 1868 at Bunbury.


GIBBS, John (02/09/1856-). John was born in Bunbury. He was the son of James and Charlotte. John married on 13/09/1877 to Sarah Eliza Wisbey. He lived in Bunbury, where he was a farmer from 1879-1885.


GIBBS, Lillian (1872-1911) Lillian was born in Bunbury as the daughter of James and Alice. She married in 1892 in Bunbury to Alfred Edmund Brown.


GIBBS, W.  He was a wheelwright in Bunbury from 1866 to 1867.


GIBLETT, Amos Wells (13/06/1862-). He is the son of John and Ann. Amos married on 04/08/1896 in Bunbury to Alice Miller (1872-1924). Their children were James (1896-1963), Murial, Thomas Wells, Minnie and Jack (1909-1935). Amos lived in Bridgetown, where he was a farmer and pastoral leaseholder in Balbarrup. Amos staffed the post and telegraph office there until 1909. 


GIBLETT, Jesse (20/12/1848-). Jesse was born in Western Australia. Jesse was the son of John and Ann. He married on 12/01/1876 in Bunbury to Eliza "Lily" Clarke (27/07/1850-23/09/1919). Eliza was the daughter of Ephraim. Their children were Ephraim John (1877-1969), Clarence French (1878-1957), Alfred (died in infancy), Jesse Thomas (1882-1953), Abi Ann (1883-1959), Kathleen Eliza (1885-1952), Ruth Kate (1889-1975), Emma (1890-1909), Ivan (1898-) who was adopted at eight years. Jesse was a farmer and grazier at "Springdale", east of Manjimup. He built a homestead in 1883. 


GIBLETT, John (1809-13/07/1882). John was born in England and died in Balbarrup. He was the son of James and Sarah. John arrived in Western Australia on 20/08/1842 aboard the Simon Taylor, with his wife Ann (1818-12/07/1896). Ann was born in England and died in Balbarrup. She is the daughter of John. John and Ann married on 22/03/1842 in England. Their children were Thomas (1842-1897), Jemina (1843-), who was born in Burrswood, Emma (1844-), John (1845-1845), John (1846-1862), Jesse (1848-), Elba (1851-1909), George (1853-), Helen (1855-1946) and Amos Wells (1862-). John was an agricultural labourer, first at Burrswood, then Canning, Serpentine and Harvey. He was a farmer and grazier at "Balbarrup," Manjimup. He owned 80 acres in 1868 in the Nelson district. John held Nelson lot 31 and 32 and extensive pastoral leases in partnership with his family. The Post Office at his home in 1864 was known as Blackwood P.O. until 1870. Travelled monthly from Bunbury. He employed eight ticket of leave men from 1851-1871. 


GlBLETT, Thomas (24/11/1842-12/05/1897). Thomas was born in Western Australia as the son of John and Ann. He married on 09/12/1869 in Bunbury Maria Agnes Moulton (04/09/1845-11/03/1930). Maria was the daughter of J. Abraham Hattbews and Mary. Their children were WaIter John (1872-1956), Ada Ann (1874-1955), Herbert James (1877-1951), Bertha Mary (1879-1938), Frank Thomas (1881-1963), Ella Haud (1883-1975), Agnes Helen (1884-), Habel (1887-1965) and Stella Capel (1894-1960). Thomas was a farmer and grazier at "Dingup House" Nelson lot 82. He had a leasehold also on Donnelly River.  


GIBSON, George (1872-04/12/1946). He was the son of William and Amelia (nee Needes). He got married on 14/06/1893, Matilda Waddingham. Matilda was born in 1872 and died on 21/04/1949. Their children are; George (1894-1894), Charles Raymond (1894-), Mary Evelyn (1897-), William (1899-). Vera (1901-). Albert Edward (1901-). Beatrice, Irene, Norman Vernon, Victor George (1919-1930), Olive. George lived in the Bunbury district and worked as a labourer. His residence was on Constitution Street.  


GIBSON, Henry (1866-). He was the son of William and Amelia. He got married on 13/04/1887 to Jessie Annie McPherson (1863-06/09/1946). Their children are; Reginald (1887-), Victor Henry (1889-). May (1890-), Robert Henry (1893-1893), William (1894-), Clara (1895-1896), Ernest 1896-1948). Leonard (1898-), Frederick (1899-), Alma (1900-), Daisy, Bernard and Clarence George (1905-1944). Henry's profession was Sawyer. He lived in South Bunbury. The residence he lived in was at 160 Spencer Street.


GIBSON, Jesse (1881-). He is the son of William and Amelia. He married Margaret Elizabeth Bouse (-18/03/1949). Their children were Cordon, Ken, Doris, Ruth and Gloria. Jesse's profession was as a vineyard worker. His residence was on Halsey Street, Bunbury. 


GISSON, WaIter (1876-). He was the son of William and Amelia. He married in 1896 to Esther Amelia Wenn (1878-). She was the daughter of James and Helen. Walter and Esther only had one child, Gladys Amelia (1902-). Walter was a market gardener by trade. The residence he lived at was 8 Latreille Road, Bunbury. 


GIBSON, William. He married Cath. Their children were Rosana (1864-) and Susan (1864-). Both of their children were born in Bunbury, where William lived.


GIBSON, William (1824-05/05/1915). William was born in England and died in Bunbury. He was an expiree. He was the son of William. He arrived in Western Australia on 04/08/1852 aboard the William Jardine, leaving his wife Ann and their children in England. He applied in 1859 for them to follow as assisted migrants. William remarried on 08/10/1861 in Picton to Amelia Need(e)s (1845-07/01/1927). Amelia was born in England and died in South Bunbury. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth. She arrived in Western Australia on 24/03/1854 aboard the Victory with her mother. Their children were Elizabeth (1863-1938), Susannah (1864-1956), Henry (1866-1965), William (1868-), Benjamin (1870-1930), George (1872-1946), Amelia (1874-), WaIter (1876-1965), Ernest (1878 - W.W.1. France), Horace (1879-1879), Jesse (1881-1960), Owen (1883- ~1915), Herbert (1885-) and Clarence (1886-1959). William was a small estate farmer at "Crandon". In Bunbury, he was a tenant of Hyman Lipschitz at "Preston Farm" in 1862. He bought several small lots of land, including 40 acres in Wellington district, in 1861. In total, William owned about 100 acres. Their house (demolished in 1968) stood opposite the North end of Gibson Street, named after him. 


GIBSON, William (06/04/1868-06/1955). He was born in Bunbury as the son of William and Amelia. He married on 18/04/1892 in Fremantle to Margaret Rebecca Bull (20/08/1867-0/11/1950). Margaret was born in Fremantle as the daughter of Edward and Charlotte. Their children were Bilda (1893-), WaIter John (1894-). Harold Ernest (1896-), William Leslie (1899-), Clifford Henry (1902-), Mabel Amelia (1904-), Edward Lincoln (1906-) and Elsie (1911-). William lived in Bunbury, where he worked as a pit sawyer, then established an orchard and vineyard in Clarke Street for Ephriam Clarke. He was supplying dried fruits and wines to Goldfield's market. Gibson bought some of this land where he worked and lived for most of his life.


GILBERT, Mrs. She lived in Bunbury and worked as a storekeeper from 1879-1884.


GILBERT. Richard C. Richard lived in Bunbury, where he was a master mariner. In 1877 he signed a petition regarding discrimination against expirees.


GILCHRIST, James. James married on 29/07/1861 in Fremantle to Margaret Whelan (1837-04/06/1870). Margaret arrived in Western Australia on 06/04/1859 aboard the Hamilla Mitchell. James remarried on 27/12/1873 in Bunbury to Eleanor Elwood (1848-). Elanor arrived in Western Australia on 11/08/1867 aboard the Palestine. James's children were Elizabeth (1864-), who was born in York, Christina (1866-), who was born in Albany, James (1869, died in infancy), William Francis (1879-1886), who was born in Toodyay and James Levi (1882-1885) who was also born in Toodyay. James was a Police Constable but travelled to York in 1865 then Albany that year. He bought Albany Town Lots in 1867, listed with three daughters. In 1871, he became Police Sergeant in Bunbury during 1873, then in Toodyay during 1878, Northam during 1880, later dismissed in 1888 due to staff reductions.


GILL, Charles (1845-12/1875). Charles died lost at sea. Charles was the son of John of Bunbury. Charles was a Hutchison grazier at Murchison House owned by his uncle Charles von Bibra. Charles applied for 6000 acres. He received a pastoral lease in 1859, and he employed two ticket of leave men during 1868-9. Charles was well-loved by Aborigines since childhood. Charles went pearling in North West waters. He was the owner of the ships Wild Wave and Swan 1875. The vessel went down in a cyclone off Exmouth Gulf. 


GILL, John (1812-09/09/1833). He came to Western Australia aboard the Jane from Tasmania. He married on 12/1843 in Picton to Mary Ann Heritage (1823-). She arrived in Western Australia on 06/12/1842 aboard the Trusty. Their child was Charles (1845-1875), who was lost at sea on the ship Wild Wave. John was a Soldier in the 21st Regiment, and he was discharged in 07/1840. After his service, he became a Carpenter, then a Police Constable. By 1849 he lived in Bunbury and bought Town Lot 1850. John was also a Gaoler from 1854-7 and then a Postmaster from 1855-7. 


GILLMAN, Henry William J (1824-). He was an expiree. Henry arrived in Western Australia, possibly around 03/07/1857, aboard the Clara. He married on 09/02/1859 in Bunbury to Anastasia Kennedy (1835-).  Anastasia arrived in Western Australia on 08/08/1857 aboard the City of Bristol. Henry lived in Bunbury, a storekeeper from 1858-74 (bankrupt 1870). He bought Town Lot 1864 in Bunbury and 2 Busselton Town Lots 1869. He employed 74 ticket of leave men from 1862-1874, including many sawyers and brickmakers in (1869), a carpenter (1871) and a lime burner (1866). He left for South Australia on 23/03/1887. Miss Gillman went to South Australia on 10/1885. Mrs and her three daughters went to Victoria on 25/02/1888. 


GIRLY/GIRLING, Mary. Mary lived in Bunbury. Salvado listed her 1854 as a Roman Catholic.


GLASSON, Cornelius (1811-16/12/1886). He arrived in Western Australia on 02/08/1852 aboard the William Jardine as an Enrolled Pensioner Guard. His children were Cornelius and Bridget Kary. He was appointed night warder to Convict Establishment 02/1853. Cornelius was a saddler at Bunbury 1869-1870. He was granted Town Lot E 83 on 05/08/1884. 


GLEESON, John (1841-). He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia on 10/08/1865 aboard the Racehorse. He employed a ticket of leave labourer at Bunbury 1870.


GLOVER, Arthur William (01/01/1863-). He was the son of William Brooks. He arrived in Western Australia aboard the Helena Mena 08/10/1885 from London. He married on 22/05/1890 in Perth to Louisa Mary Shayer. She was the daughter of Henry George. He was a Perth Government draftsman until 1888, then with the commercial branch of West Australian. In 1890, Arthur was established as a share broker and was a foundation member of the board for the Perth Stock Exchange. He was a Justice of Peace. He was later the Director of Canning Turf Club and Aachen and Munich Fire Institute. He was even Chairman of Bunbury Brewing Co. Arthur was educated privately. 


GOLDSMITH, Right Reverend Frederick (03/08/1853-). He was born in London. He was the son of Frederick William. Frederick married in 1880 to Edith Emma Frewer. She was the daughter of Rev. George Frewer (of Eton College). Frederick arrived in Western Australia on 25/04/1888 aboard Brittania with his wife. Frederick was formerly of St. Luke's Old Charlton (1876), Curate of St. Philip's, Cheam (1881-5), Vicar of HaIling. Later, Frederick was appointed Dean of Perth (W.A.) 1888-1904. He was a Bishop of Bunbury and was active in the oversight of the North-West until 1910. He was even Manager of aboard Perth Girls Orphanage and other Church buildings. A talented violinist, member of Freemason Lodge. Frederick favoured High Church.  He later travelled to England in  1905 to raise funds. Frederick resigned in 1917. Educated at Merchant Taylors School London and St John's College Oxford BA 1876, HA 1879.


GOODALL, William (1831-09/11/1872). He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia on 28/06/1855 aboard the Adelaide. He married on 03/02/1860 in Bunbury Mary Murphy. Mary arrived in Western Australia on 20/10/1859 aboard the West Australian. William and Mary's child was Mary (1867-). By trade, William was a farm labourer. He employed four ticket of leave men in Fremantle from 1863-1870 and others at Swan and Bunbury. The widow became a prostitute and applied for poor relief after her discharge from prison on 12/1882. His religion was Roman Catholic. 


GORMAN, James (1819-24/12/1882). James died in Albany. He arrived in Western Australia 07/02/1853 aboard the Dudbrook as an Enrolled Pensioner Guard with his wife Ellen (1823-). Their children were Karella (1850-1863), Lawrence (1852-), who was born in Ireland, James (1855-), who was born in Bunbury, Ellen (1856/7-), who was born in Fremantle, Rose Anna (1857-), Christopher (1861-), Elba (1863-) who was born in Fremantle, Peter (1864-) who was born in Perth, Edward Thomas (1865-), Nat John (1867-), Matthew, (1868) and Ellen (1869-). James was formerly a Corporal in the 13th Regiment. He served 12 years and won 3 medals for his service in India. He then went on to serve 26 years in Convict service W.A. and as a Policeman. Williams son James was Innkeeper at the staging post "Chorkerup" 15 miles north of Albany. He employed two ticket of leave men from 1871-1872 in Albany. 


GORMAN, Martin (1833-). He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia on 19/08/1859 aboard the Sultana. He lived in Bunbury. Sent to the convict depot in Fremantle in 1885 as an 'imperial pauper'.


GRAMOTT, Alfred (1836-17/07/1891). He died in Vasse. He was an expiree. He arrived on 11/02/1861 aboard the Palmerston. He employed eight ticket of leave labourers from 1867-1871 at Bunbury. Alfred died when a tree fell on him.


GUITE(A/O) N, Kiss. She was the daughter of John. For a job, she was a Schoolmistress. She lived in Bunbury (1883-4). 


GREAVES, Samuel (1841-). Samuel was an expiree. He arrived on 13/04/1864 aboard the Clara. His wife and children were left in the United Kingdom. He employed two ticket of leave men in 1869 and 1870 at Bunbury. 


GREEN, Edward. He employed two ticket of leave men 1870 and 1877 at Bunbury.


GREEN, Henry. Possibly both expirees. He employed two ticket of leave men (one a sawyer) in 1870s Bunbury. He also hired a ticket of leave well sinker at Sunset Hill, York, in 1875. 


GREEN, James. He was a Sergeant of the 51st Regiment. He was stationed in Western Australia in 1840-1847, at York 1840 and was in charge at Bunbury 27/09/1843. 


GREEN, Patrick (-07/04/1881). Patrick died in Geraldton. He was married. His child was Mary Jane (1873-1890). Patrick was a Water policeman in Bunbury but later in Geraldton on 12/07/1877. 


GRIFFIN, George (1843-). He was an expiree. He arrived in Western Australia on 29/01/1862 aboard the Lincelles. He got married to Elizabeth. Their child was Emma Jane (1870-), born in Bunbury. George worked in Bunbury as a carter in 1877. He employed four ticket of leave men 1873-1875 at "Iron Pot" Arthur River. He returned to London on 29/11/1877. 


GRISS, Thomas (1837-). He was an expiree. Thomas had a wife and 3 Children left in the United Kingdom. Thomas arrived on 22/12/1866 aboard the Corona. Departed for London 13/02/1877 aboard the Charlotte Padbury. While he was in Bunbury, he was a shoemaker in 1877.


GROVES, George W. He arrived in Western Australia on 18/11/1840 aboard the Lady Emma from Tasmania. George married Elizabeth Emmott. Their children were G.E. (1841-), Ada (1843-) and Henry William (1855-1879). In 1841 George moved to Bunbury, where he was a Pilot and small farmer—departed on 02/1844 aboard the Cecilia for Victoria. In 1864 he applied for title to Bunbury Lot.  


GUNSON, Mathew. Matthew arrived in Western Australia on 21/01/1887 aboard the Hampshire. He was an engineman, then unemployed and sought poor relief at Bunbury 21/4/1887.
